Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town Biker MovieA Spoof Motorcycle Movie and Horror Tale in Classic B-Movie Style
Chopper Chicks in Zombie town is a humorous biker horror movie. Billy Bob Thornton co-stars in a zany motorcycle movie that features zombies set to Disney music.
Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town is a classic spoof biker movie whose primary charm lies in the fact that it does not take itself seriously. It is also purely and unashamedly a B movie. A rebel biker gang made up of attractive women, the Cycle Sluts, rolls into and sets about annoying the inhabitants of a remote little town. Meanwhile, the local mortician/mad scientist transforms residents into zombies, using a lime-green radioactive goop from the old local mine. He shuts the zombies up in the mine but they escape, released by a hapless boy. The result, of course, is akin to the kind of Gary Larson Far Side cartoon that is captioned "Trouble Brewing." The doctor captures a chopper chick for his experiments; meanwhile, the zombies start lurching into town. It is here, with their rather unusual theme music, that the motorcycle movie's charms really start to come to the fore. In Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town, slapstick and surreal humor abound. For quite inexplicable reasons, a busload of blind orphans is brought into the area and then abandoned. The bikers rescue them, then set about rescuing what is left of the town. The remainder of the movie, as might be guessed, is a riot. There are multiple nods to classic zombie tales, including the quintessential zombie bride. Trivia From the Biker Movie Chopper Chicks in Zombieville Chopper Chicks is an offering from Troma Entertainment, an independent horror movie studio and distributor with several cult movie credits. Originally, director Dan Hoskins had intended Pink Elephants to be nothing more than a joke that would later be replaced, but the investors liked it so much that they made him put the music back in. Of particular note is that the "chopper chicks," including Jamie Rose and Martha Quinn, all learned to ride a motorcycle for the movie. They discuss this experience in the DVD special features. Stuntman and actor Ed Gale also revealed his face for the first time in the role of Bob, the undertaker's assistant. Ed is better known for "costumed" roles such as Chucky in Child's Play. The Location of the Motorcycle Movie is Beautiful Riding Country. If the outright silliness of this movie does not appeal, Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town is still worth watching for the scenery and the beautiful chopped motorcycles. The Rand Mountains in California's Kern County are part of the arid Mojave Desert. Chopper Chicks includes several shots of long, alluring straight roads perfect for cruising on a motorcycle. Randsburg and Johannesburg, both settings for the movie, are former mining camps with historic buildings still intact. They are now virtual ghost towns, but do have a year-round population somewhat larger than the dwindling population of the movie's town, and are a good place to take a break.
